The cistern is located on the southern slope of the hill in the southeast of the village of Yolüstü (Kedile), which is located 46 km southeast of Batman city center and 17 km east of Hasankeyf town centre.

It is thought that since the cistern was small when it was first built, it could not meet the water needs, and it may have been transformed into a large cistern by enlarging the inner part of the cistern in the later periods. Right next to the cistern, there is a water collection reservoir associated with the cistern. The passage of the water collected in this reservoir is provided through the 1m diameter opening that opens into the large cistern. There are lighting niches on the walls. The cistern, which is not used today, is damaged.
