ŞEVLAND HILL CISTERN

The cistern is located on the northwest slope of Şevland Hill overlooking Garzan Stream, 550 m southwest of Kumru (Kumarro) hamlet of Kütüklü (Gre Cello) village, within the borders of Beşiri district of Batman province.

The cistern in Şevland Mound, the old settlement area, has a narrow mouth, a cylindrical body and a feature that expands towards the bottom. The cistern is 220x180cm in diameter and has a preserved depth of 3.50m. Block stone, rubble stone and cas mortar were used in the construction of the cistern. It is understood that it was unearthed as a result of illegal excavations in the area. Today, it has been subject to destruction and does not see any use.
