ARIK HAMLET ROCK TOMB NO. 2

The rock tomb is located in the Arık (Dera Ser) hamlet of Bağözü village, in the Gercüş district of Batman province, at a location known as the Devil's Creek in the region. Bağözü village is located 81 km south of Batman city center and 22 km southwest of Gercüş district centre.

The rock tomb consists of 3 klines and the klines are arcosolium. There is no step system to reach the rock tomb built above the ground. The entrance to the tomb is provided by a small corridor facing west. At the end of the corridor, there is a narrow entrance that leads to the burial chamber.

Inside the burial chamber, there is a step just in front of the entrance. The entrance part was built higher than the burial chamber. The tomb chamber, which has a square plan, measures 2.40 m in the east-west direction, 2.30 m in the north-south direction and is 1.75 m high. Klines are located on the north, east and south walls of the burial chamber.

It is located on the north wall of the kline burial chamber no. 1, on the east wall of the kline burial chamber no. 2, and on the south wall of the kline burial chamber no. 3. There are pillows of the klines, but the pillows have been destroyed. There is a general destruction of the rock tomb and the tomb was excavated by treasure hunters.
