Illustrated Rock Shelter No. 1 is located around Nis Hill, located 2.00km west of Kumluca (Mirdese) village, within the borders of Hasankeyf district of Batman province, and south of the Tigris River. Kumluca village is located 21km southeast of Batman city center and 13.55km west of Hasankeyf town centre.

A total of two illustrated rock shelters were found in the area. Figures and motifs in Pictured Rock Shelter No. 1 are painted examples. It is thought that the depictions in the rock shelter were probably painted with inorganic oxides or with dyes derived from plant roots. Among the depicted motifs and figures are mountain goat figures and concentric circles intertwined.
