AKBURÇ VILLAGE CISTERNS

The cisterns are located in the southwest of Akburç village. Akburç village is located within the borders of Gercüş district of Batman province. The village is located 45km southeast of Batman center and 4km southeast of Gercüş district center.

A total of five cisterns were found to the south of the workshop, located in the rocky area known as Kelehe Hill by the local people (Picture 1). The mouth diameters of the cisterns average 0.75m-1.05m, and their current depths are between 0.45m-0.65m. Today, the cisterns are filled with soil, rubble stones and rain water (Picture 2). (Picture 3) The cisterns, which are not in use today, have lost their functions.
